C&J Designer Homes was approached by an interstate based developer seeking to feature two custom designed and built homes.  Each home was to be individual in style and take into consideration the issue of Melbourne’s water shortage. 

Both homes featured water sensitive landscape design that incorporated Tuscan style gravel topping in lieu of grass; deciduous canopy trees that provide summer shade and allow winter sun and mixed English style plantings that require little water.

This home is a classic single storey Edwardian featuring innovative water-sensitive design.  Incorporating a structured plumbing system, a 10,000 litre underground water tank and a suite of water saving appliances, C&J Designer Homes built a traditional style home with modern needs in mind.

The structured plumbing system is essentially a demand controlled water pumping system that brings water quickly to tap fixtures, thereby minimising wasted water running down the drain while waiting for hot water to arrive. 

C&J Designer Homes worked closely with Yarra Valley Water in developing this innovative water-sensitive concept.

This home is a single storey, 4 bedroom Victorian home that encompasses the traditional detail for which homes of this era are renowned.  Decorative lacework to the exterior, leadlight detail and chrome fittings coalesce with water-saving appliances to deliver a water efficient home encompassing traditional Victorian design elements.
